The Hassan district police plan to install at least 1,000 closed-circuit television cameras across the district to keep a tab on the movement of traffic and crimes in public places, including roads and prime locations. The police are expecting the pubic to sponsor the cameras.
Superintendent of Police Raman Gupta, addressing a public meeting at Arkaglud on Thursday, said that the police needed to update their system with advanced tools to tackle crimes in society. “The cameras will cover busy public places so that the police can keep a tab on the developments and work out plans to stop crimes,” he said. The district police have launched a mobile application to ensure safety of public. Those in need of police help could contact the nearest police with the mobile application.
Further, the department had constituted an authority to handle cases pertaining to complaints filed against police officials. The public could file their complaints, if any, against the officials to the authority.Assistant Superintendent of Polce Dekka Kishor Babu, Circle Inspector of Police Suresh and others were present.
