The former Minister and Chairman of the Hassan Milk Union H.D. Revanna has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to rescue the milk unions that were running under loss as a large quantity of milk powder had remained unsold in all the unions coming under the Karnataka Milk Federation.
Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Revanna said all unions were running under loss. The Bengaluru union had a cumulative loss of Rs. 20.19 crore, followed by Hassan union with Rs. 21 crore, Kolar with Rs. 16.4 crore, Mysuru with Rs. 12.49 crore, Mandya with Rs. 3.3 crore, Dharwad with Rs. 86 lakh, Tumakuru with Rs. 6.99 crore, Shivamogga with Rs. 3.42 crore and Bellary union with Rs. 1 crore. Nearly 5,000 tonnes of milk powder was lying unsold, causing loss to the unions, he said.
Stating that the State government should bail-out the milk unions from loss, he said, Mr. Siddaramaiah should convene a meeting of representatives of all unions in this regard.
