‘Power Star’ Puneet Rajkumar kept thousands of his fans on their toes and also made them dance along with him at the landmark Kittur Chennamma Circle during the shooting of his film ‘Dodmane Huduga’ here on Friday.

As thousands of his fans gathered at the circle to watch their favourite star, the police had a difficult time controlling the crowd and also streamlining the traffic at the junction where seven roads converge.

His father and Kannada matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar had shot ‘Huttidare Kannada Nadalli Huttabeku...’ song for his film ‘Aakasmika’ at the same venue and it went on to become a hit number evoking the Kannada ethos. On Friday, following in his father’s footsteps, Puneet danced for ‘Abhimanigale nammane devru’ for his film ‘Dodmane Huduga’.

Holding the Kannada flag atop a North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation bus parked adjacent to the equestrian statue of Kittur Rani Chennamma, Puneet made his fans dance with him. There was a huge rush for taking a snap with the star and some succeeded in taking a selfie. A drizzle did not dampen neither their spirits nor that of the film crew. Each time the film star waved at them, the fans let out a huge cry and slogans followed.

Although the permission for the shoot was between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. it went beyond the schedule forcing the police to work hard to control the crowd. Preparatory works consumed most of the time while the actual shoot lasted for less than half an hour.

Even the film star left the venue after the shoot, it took a while for the crowd to disperse as they were busy watching the film crew pack up their equipment.

Meanwhile, several motorists and commuters travelling by city buses expressed displeasure over permitting shooting at the busy junction for long hours.

As the traffic was diverted during office hours, alternative roads were unable to take the load and the vehicles moved at a slow pace.
