Ex-councillor files complaint against circle inspector

July 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Mysuru:

M.C. Chikkanna, former councillor, has lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta against the circle inspector of Nazarbad police station, M.L. Shekar, for “not providing adequate security” to Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha at the government guest house on July 3.

On that day, Mari Gowda, former president of the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat, had stopped the DC’s car and questioned her over some administrative matters. Ms. Shikha later filed a police case against him.

Mr. Chikkanna said the police should have prevented Mr. Mari Gowda and his followers from holding up the DC’s car and intimidating her. In his complaint, he also said the circle inspector had failed to arrest Mr. Mari Gowda soon after receiving the complaint. It was a clear case of “negligence and dereliction” of duty, Mr. Chikkanna said, seeking a Lokayukta probe and disciplinary action against Mr. Shekar.
