‘Don’t allow FDI in agriculture’

Maruti Manpade, State president of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS), has opposed foreign direct investment (FDI) in agriculture and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to allow it. He was addressing at a press conference in Yadgir recently.

He underlined the importance to implement concrete programmes to improve the income of the farmers from products and said that many farmers committed suicide owing to crop damage. Hence, special packages to help such families be announced, he added.

As many 13 lakh applications submitted by bagair hukum cultivators were rejected by the State government and 7 lakh applications were pending, he said. A rally will be held in Bengaluru on July 1, he said and added that around 50,000 farmers from the different parts of the state are expected to be participated in the rally.
