Devraj Urs birth centenary celebrations tomorrow

The birth centenary of the former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs, who is credited with the implementation of land reforms in the State, will be celebrated here on August 20.

A release here on Tuesday said the celebrations would be organised at the Lions Bhavan at Brahmagiri at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, would inaugurate the celebrations.

D. Dayananda, lecturer at Government Women’s PU College, would deliver a lecture on the life and achievements of D. Devaraj Urs. The programme is being organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat and the Department for Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare, the release added.
