Corporator’s election set aside

February 12, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - BALLARI:

C.V. Margoor, Principal District Judge, has set aside the election of B.K. Kerekodappa as corporator of Ward No 17 of Ballari City Corporation.

An order to this effect was passed by Mr. Magoor on February 9 in an election petition filed by K. Thipperudrappa, who had contested the corporation election unsuccessfully, challenging the election of Mr. Kerekodappa.

Mr. Thipperudrappa said that Mr. Kerekodappa was not eligible to contest from Ward No 17, as his name did not find a mention in the 94 Ballari Assembly Constituency voters list.

Mr. Kerekodappa, when contacted, told The Hindu that he would move the High Court of Karnataka against the district court order setting aside his election as a corporator.
