Congress candidate R. Prasanna Kumar was leading by a margin of 434 votes against JD(S) nominee Niranjana H.N. by the conclusion of the counting of first preferential votes in the election for Legislative Council from Shivamogga Local Bodies constituency. Mr. Kumar has secured 1,800 votes while 1,366 votes were polled in favour of Mr. Niranjana.
Sitting MLC and BJP nominee R.K. Siddaramanna was in third place by securing 1,292 votes.
