Chitradurga district gets 90 per cent of required textbooks

Two days have left for schools to reopen and the DDPI office in the district has made all necessary preparations to ensure that students in all government and aided-schools get textbooks in the first week of June.

Already 90 per cent of the books required have already reached the district and the concerned BEOs are taking care of arrangements to send them to concerned schools.

According to official sources, in the current academic year the district requires 12,80,219 textbooks out of which 2,17,241 textbooks would be sent to aided-schools.

In Chitradurga taluk, the requirement is 3,54,828 out of which 66,876 will be sent to aided-schools. The taluk has already received 85.57 per cent of textbooks.

Hiriyur taluk requires 1,95,606 textbooks and 39,022 will be sent to aided-schools and the taluk has already received 80.73 per cent of the requirement.

Challakere requires 2,98,328 textbooks and 37,555 will go to aided-schools and the taluk has already received 86.02 per cent textbooks.

Holalkere taluk requires a total of 1,37,792 textbooks and 27,289 textbooks will be sent to aided-schools and the taluk has already received 69.02 per cent of the requirement.

Hosadurga taluk requires a total of 1,75,170 textbook in which 30,520 textbooks would be sent to aided schools and the taluk has already received 71.12 per cent textbooks, sources said.

Molkalmuru taluk requires a total of 1,18,495 textbooks and 15,976 will be sent to aided-schools ad the taluk has already received 72.58 per cent of textbooks.

There are a total of 2,378 schools having classes 1 to 10 in the district. Out of these, 1,769 are government schools, 280 are aided-schools and remaining 329 are unaided schools.

The total number of students in government schools is 1,42,046, those in aided schools are 48,446 and in unaided schools there are 60,935.

The authorities have also made arrangements for distribution of uniforms to students in the first week of June, sources added.
