Bribery case: hearing adjourned till August 4

The hearing of an application seeking to make Minister for Public Works H.C. Mahadevappa’s son Sunil Bose as an accused in a six-year-old bribery case was adjourned till August 4 by a court here.

When the case came up for hearing in the Third Additional District and Sessions Court on Thursday, Mr. Bose’s counsel said his client had filed a petition in the High Court of Karnataka and urged the court to adjourn the hearing.

Hence, the judge adjourned the case.

The court is hearing the application filed by Basavaraj based on whose complaint the Lokayukta had trapped and booked a case against Mr. Alphonsus, the then senior geologist in the Department of Mines and Geology, Mysuru, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe for issuing permits to transport sand six years ago.

Basavaraj has contended that the Lokayukta had booked a case against Mr. Bose and his aide Raju under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the case, but later dropped their names from the chargesheet.
