Seeking to build pressure on the government, the BJP has threatened to call for a Kodagu bandh if no action is taken against Minister for Bengaluru Development K.J. George and IPS officers A.M. Prasad and Pronab Mohanty by Tuesday.

BJP leader of Kodagu Ravi Kushalappa told reporters on Monday that the party will give the bandh call if the government does not register a FIR against the Minister and two IPS officers named by Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K. Ganapathy before committing suicide.

Meanwhile, activists of BJP and its frontal organisations such as ABVP staged a demonstration in different parts of Kodagu on Monday demanding the arrest of Mr. George and the two IPS officers. The BJP workers, who had joined JD(S) activists in staging a demonstration in front of the Kushalnagar rural police station on Sunday evening, gathered in front of the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Somwarpet and staged a dharna. Similar protests by the BJP were witnessed in Balale and various taluks of Kodagu including Madikeri.
