Two factions of Bharatiya Janata Party activists engaged in a heated argument at the party office here on Friday, alleging that some of the leaders and party workers have been neglected while organising the Vikas Parva rally on Sunday.
One group staged a dharna outside the party office.
Around 1 p.m., BJP leader B.S. Jagadish and a group of party workers came to the party office where a meeting of workers and leaders was being held to discuss the preparations for the rally. They started arguing that leaders such as Basavaraj Naik and S.A. Ravindranath were deliberately neglected by the senior leaders and they were not invited to meetings to discuss the preparations for the rally.
“The names and photos of these leaders have been removed from the banners put across the district. It is an attempt to insult them and tarnish their image,” they alleged.
Heated exchange of words
Heated exchange of words ensued when members of the other faction tried to justify their stand and argued that their action was not deliberate. But the other group continued its argument and the efforts of district leader Anaberu Jivanmurthy to pacify members of both groups did not yield results.
Later, Mr. Ravindranath and the former Minister M.P. Renukacharya reached the party office and pacified the leaders and workers.
“Some mistakes happen while organising such programmes and such things should not be taken personally,” they said.
