The 43-day-long Mysuru Shopping Festival was kicked off on Saturday with film actors Shruti, Shwetha Srivatsava and Amrutha buying fresh vegetables from the vegetable market on M.G. Road.

The market attracts hundreds of customers. The presence of film actors among the customers lent a glamour quotient to the place on Saturday.

The actors, went around the market purchasing vegetables and flowers. They visited different shops to purchase silk sarees and artefacts.

More than a thousand shops in Mysuru are taking part in the festival, which coincides Dasara and Deepavali. Starting a week before Dasara, the festival seeks to promote Mysuru as both a tourist hub and a shopping destination.

Organised in support with the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka, Mysore Travels Association, Shroff Varthakara Sangha (Jewellers Association, Mysuru), and Hotel Owners Association, Mysuru, gifts worth more than Rs. 1 crore will be given to shoppers through lucky dips drawn every hour during the festival, which will conclude on November 5.
