Kolar district chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has urged the government to take action against those involved in cases of assault on doctors in the State.

The members of the IMA staged a protest in Kolar on Monday condemning the attacks on doctors at the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) on January 1 and doctors working in a hospital in Sirsi on January 2 by MP Ananthkumar Hegde.

Such attacks will adversely affect the medical profession, the protesters said. Particularly the assault on doctor and other staff by a MP is a matter of grave concern, they said.

A delegation led by M. Narayanaswamy, IMA, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra demanding stringent action against the assailants.
