The Commissioner of Railway Safety (Southern Circle) began the inspection of railway tracks between Nelamangala and Shravanabelagola stations — which is part of the Hassan-Bengaluru new line — on Monday. The inspection comes ahead of the opening of the newly laid broad gauge line for public carriages which will be operational post certification by CRS, a South Western Railway statement read. On Monday, safety inspection was conducted between Nelamangala and Tippasandra with trials being scheduled between Tippasandra and Yediyur on Tuesday, Tippasandra to Hiresave on Thursday, and Hiresave to Shravanbelagola on Friday. The speed trial will be held on Friday.

Once operations begin, the line will connect Bengaluru with Hassan via Nelamangala, Kunigal, Yediyur, and Shravanabelagola with a total track length of 179.28 km.
