Officials of Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited (KBJNL) on Tuesday continued to release water from the Narayanpur reservoir into the Krishna river course and also canals to maintain the safety levels as 67,500 cusecs of water was flowing from the Almatti dam into the reservoir.

According to official sources, they released 70,000 cusecs of water from the reservoir into the river course followed by 4,000 cusecs into the Narayanpur Left Bank Canal and 500 cusecs into the Narayanpur Right Bank Canal.

The decision to release water from the reservoir at a higher rate would be taken based on the inflow, they added.

The water level stood at 491.63 m against the full reservoir level of 492.25 m.

“Villagers on the riverbanks have been warned against entering the river course,” a senior engineer of the reservoir told The Hindu over phone.
