Aam Aadmi Party MLA Vinod Kumar Binny on Wednesday accused his party of deviating from its stated path, and failing to fulfil the promises on which it had fought the Delhi Assembly elections and formed the government.
This is the second time Mr. Binny has taken on the party after winning the elections. He had reportedly expressed his displeasure at being denied a Cabinet post. On Wednesday, he threatened to launch a protest against the party.
According to party sources, Mr. Binny is likely to be suspended and served a show-cause notice if he goes ahead with his “anti-party” activity. The AAP sent a strong signal to the rebellious MLA that it won’t allow him to “blackmail” the party and it had no place for those who nursed “personal ambitions.”
Undeterred by the party’s tough stand, Mr. Binny said he would organise a press conference on Thursday and “expose” the truth about the AAP.
Brushing aside Mr. Binny’s allegation, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said the MLA was miffed earlier at denial of a ministerial berth and now at refusal of Lok Sabha nomination from East Delhi.
“First, he came for a ministerial post, we refused. Then he came for a Lok Sabha seat. We have decided that no MLA will contest the Lok Sabha polls. I don’t know what his intention is,” Mr. Kejriwal said.
However, Mr. Binny denied Mr. Kejriwal’s allegations.
