YSRC denies allegations about Tuni violence

February 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - KAKINADA:

Refuting the allegations levelled by the Telugu Desam leader Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu that the violence in Tuni that took place on January 31 was the handiwork of the YSR Congress party leaders from Kakinada, former MLAs D. Chandrasekhar Reddy and K. Kanna Babu on Wednesday stated that they were ready to swear at Kanipakam temple to prove their innocence.

“It seems that Mr. Muddu Krishnama Naidu started attacking us in a hurry. All his allegations were baseless and we have not played any role in the violence,” the YSR Congress leaders said at a press conference here.

Mr. Kanna Babu said that though he attended the meeting along with other Kapu leaders from different political parties, he had not participated in the violence, but taken shelter in a house at Tuni during the evening.

“I went there to address the Kapus, but I was not given a chance to speak. For that matter, no leader was taken the mike, except Mr. Padmanabham,” he said, adding that Mr. Padmanabham hardly spoke for five minutes before giving a call to launch an indefinite movement.
