Woman police station to resolve family disputes has been set up at Padmavathi Nagar in the town. DSP Kumara Swamy on Thursday said that two Sub-Inspectors, constables and experts would counsel women and their spouses every Saturday, if necessary, at the police station to settle disputes, including harassment from in-laws and assaults on them. Women under the limits of I-Town, II-Town, Vizianagaram (Rural), Denkada, Gurla, Nellimarla and Jami police stations could approach the police station.

The police personnel would initially counsel them for a patch-up. If they failed in their efforts, the police would register cases, he added. He said family counselling centres had also been setup at Parvathipuram and Bobbili police stations.
