A woman and her daughter died after they were run over by an SUV on the National Highway 205 at Tirurajupuram village of Puttur mandal on Sunday noon. The deceased, identified as Janakamma (45) and Muneeswari (28), were daily wagers, belonging to Chandrappanaidu Kandriga village nearby.
According to the Puttur Police, the mother-daughter duo was going to their workplace by walk when a Tirupati-bound SUV Tirupati hit them from behind.
Under the impact, they flung into air and crashed into the roadside canal, resulting in their instantaneous death.
Following the accident, the driver fled, abandoning the vehicle. The bodies were shifted to the government hospital at Puttur for autopsy. A case has been registered.
