The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced to build Lord Venkateswara temple at Amaravati ahead of the ensuing Krishna pushkarams apart from one at Hyderabad.
It was only last year that the TTD management built a temple on the banks of the river Godavari at Rajamahendravaram, coinciding with the Godavari pushkarams. “In the same spirit, we are coming up with a temple ahead of the Krishna pushkarams scheduled between August 12 and 24,” Executive Officer D. Sambasiva Rao announced during a review meeting with senior officials on Monday.
Dr. Rao instructed the engineering officials to come out with an action plan to construct replica temples (namoona alayams) of Lord Venkateswara at Amaravati as well as at Hyderabad. For the idols and sculpted artefacts already despatched to SC/ST colonies and other areas upon their request, he directed chief engineer Chandrasekhar Reddy to constitute a committee with engineers, temple officers, archakas (priests) and sthapathis (sculptors) to verify the installation and construction process.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rao released the special edition of the TTD mouthpiece ‘Sapthagiri’ magazine for May 2016, which has an exclusive portrayal of Sri Vaishnavite saint Sri Ramanujacharya, commemorating his millennial celebrations. The feature contains special articles on his life, works and contribution to the religion as well as the mainstream society, which were authored by scholars Samudrala Lakshmanaiah, A. Singaracharyulu, K.Rajagopalan, K.J. Krishnamurthy, Hari Sarvothama Rao and others.
