TDP to petition Modi on Karnataka projects

August 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 06:06 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The TDP has decided to seek intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in preventing the Karnataka government from going ahead with construction of “illegal” projects across the Krishna. Party working president E. Dayakar Rao said a delegation of TDP MLAs and senior leaders would visit New Delhi shortly to represent the construction of illegal projects to Prime Minister as it was detrimental to the interests of the lower riparian States of Telangana and AP. The decision comes after TDP senior leaders called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan a couple of days ago seeking his intervention in the issue. Mr. Dayakar Rao criticised the indifference of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao led TRS government on the projects being constructed upstream of the Krishna. It was only after the party highlighted the constructions coming up in the neighbouring State that the government had addressed a letter to the Central government.
