State Women and Child Welfare Committee chairperson and MLA Meesala Geeta, MLC Gummadi Sandhya Rani and State Telugu Mahila president Sobha Hymavathi called on the gang rape victim at Gosha Hospital here on Friday and enquired about her health.

Meanwhile, police identified the four accused – A. Adinarayanaraya, a washer man, S. Sankar Rao, Lakshman and Chinna Rao --in the gang rape of the 28-year-old tribal woman, this morning and taken them into custody, according to Gajapathinagaram Inspector K.K.V. Vijayanath.

According to Mr. Vijayanath, the incident occurred when the woman, who has three children, was returning home at Moolapadu village in Mentada mandal on Wednesday night after she saw her husband off at Andra. All the four accused relieved her of Rs. 3,000 that her husband gave her and allegedly raped her at an isolated place. After she gained consciousness she raised an alarm and some women rescued her.

On Thursday morning, she left for her native village and reported the matter to village elders who lodged a complaint with Andra Police on Thursday night. The CI said that the police registered cases against them.
