May 10, 2014 12:29 am | Updated 12:29 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telugu Desam Party has urged the Election Commission to order repolling in over a dozen polling stations in Jammalamadugu and Mydukur Assembly segments in Kadapa district.

TDP MP C.M. Ramesh called on Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath in New Delhi on Friday and complained to him about the high handed behaviour of the YSR Congress leaders and activists in the just-concluded elections. The threats and intimidations by the YSR Congress candidates coupled with instances of booth capturing denied electorate an opportunity to exercise their franchise freely.

He briefed Mr. Sampath about the attack on two IPS officials by the YSR Congress activists in Jammalamadugu constituency complaining that the police was yet to initiate action against those involved in the attack. The TDP leader submitted evidence pertaining to attacks on the TDP leaders and activists by the YSRC leaders at Mydukur.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, he said the CEC responded positively to the complaints lodged by the TDP.
