Emphasising the need to fully utilise MNREGS grants, Commissioner (Rural Development) B. Ramanjaneyulu has asked sarpanchs to adopt resolutions for CC roads and underground drainages at gram sabhas and submit proposals for the same by this month-end. A panchayat must allocate 50 per cent of its grants for completion of CC roads and UGDs in the next four years. The government has taken steps to lay 5,000 kms of CC roads against the total of 1,700 kms laid during the last seven years.

He said the district was sanctioned Rs. 900 crore under the scheme, of which Rs. 360 crore would be material component for developing playgrounds and bio-fencing in place of compound wall.
