RTC bus stations to sport new look

: The Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation would get 3,000 brand new buses in a phased manner and all the RTC depots and district headquarters would be remodelled to change the face of bus stations in the State, said Transport and R&B Minister Sidda Raghavarao here on Tuesday.

Priority was being given to improve basic passenger amenities – toilets, drinking water, chairs in all the district headquarters and in the second phase mandal headquarter bus depots will be renovated.

Andhra Pradesh was the first State to achieve considerable progress Aadhaar seeding in the Transport Department and 83 services provided by the department were now available online to do away with the menace of middlemen, he said.

Geographic Positioning System has been made available to 3,000 buses till date and 13,600 more would be fitted with the GPS soon. A team from Delhi would be coming to the State to see the functioning of GPS in the buses here, he said. The new buses, including school buses, would be provided with speed governors.
