Red sanders logs worth Rs. 1 crore seized

Police seized 63 red sander logs worth over Rs. 1 crore from a dump near the Telugu Ganga project main canal in the forest area at Rudravaram in Kurnool district on Thursday night.

On a tip-off

Rudravaram Sub-Inspector Hanumanthaiah and staff also seized nine bicycles, a bag of rice, pulses, vegetables, utensils and weighing machine near the dump, on a tip-off.

Police suspect that the logs were kept at the place since a fortnight.

As the red sanders offenders could not reach the place on vehicles, owing to rainfall, they seemed to using bicycles to shift the logs to the forest area in Prakasam district, police said. The logs were handed over to the forest officials.
