A progressive peasant from Prakasam district Katta Ramakrishna has been selected as a farmers’ representative in the Programme Monitoring Committee of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research.

A communication to this effect was received by the farmer for the first meeting of the panel in New Delhi on June 27.

The organic farmer from Obannapalem, near Nagulapupadu, had actively participated in the field-trials of ICAR in improving productivity. He had won the ‘Babu Jagjivan Ram Abhinav Kisan Puraskar’ for 2013 for successfully adopting high-density planting technique in his cotton field.
