Miscreants attempted to rob passengers on the Hubli Express near the Garladinne railway station, but were thwarted by the railway police on Thursday.

The Hampi Express, which reached the Garladinne station in the morning stopped at the end of the platform.

About three persons entered the train and threatened women passengers to part with their gold ornaments. Even as the passengers were being threatened, the police who were travelling on the train came rushing to spot prompting the robbers to flee.

There is yet to be any complaint filed by any of the passengers for loss of valuables, even as the police said they were enquiring with the passengers about the description of the robbers.

The signal wire which was cut disabling the system, was repaired and the train went ahead on its schedule.
