April 06, 2014 10:50 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 09:04 am IST - SRIKAKULAM:

The Polvaram Rythu Karyanacharana Samiti on Sunday warned that the people would reject the political parties which would fail to take steps for materialisation of the Polavaram project that envisages irrigating 8 lakh acres in Northa Andhra region.

The Samiti members formally launched a tour from Srikakulam that would cover all the eight districts which are expected to be benefitted by the Polavaram project. Addressing the media, Samiti president Kalidindi Krishnam Raju, Mantena Suryanarayana Raju and irrigation expert Haranath urged the people to vote for the parties which were serious about the project that had been kept in cold storage for the last 90 years.

They alleged that Union government had misled people with false promises over Polavaram during when the State bifurcation was mooted. Samiti members P. Murali, A. Bhavani Prasad said that people would believe the parties only if the Polavaram issue was included in their manifestos.
