Even as the fans of actor and Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan celebrated his birth day in a grand manner across the State, a surprising lull was witnessed in three riverfront villages – Undavalli, Penumaka and Bethapudi—which he visited recently.

Barring a few banners, not much activity was seen in here, which accorded a rousing reception when the actor visited to express his solidarity in their fight against Land Acquisition Act.

The farmers were seen saying that Mr. Pawan was their only hope and dubbed him as their savior. In contrary, there was no hullabaloo on Wednesday.

Not much activity was seen in villages where people from his own community outnumber others. Political equations changed swiftly during last general elections, when Mr. Pawan’s campaign for BJP-TDP combine worked out.

Asked as to why they were not celebrating, the villagers just grin and said: “We never celebrated.”

“Yeah, the film star has been voicing our concerns. But, farmers never gave a thought of it. The youth must be doing something,” said Sankar Reddy, a farmer from Undavalli.
