Expressing resentment over the inordinate delay in conducting elections to the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC), leaders of the YSR Congress and activists of the Left parties staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Friday.

Accusing the local elected representatives of creating hurdles for the elections, they raised slogans for holding polls immediately.

‘No pending court cases’

The elections were supposed to be conducted six years ago but the process got postponed due to court cases.

Now, no cases were pending and there was no hurdle to electing a new body to the KMC, the leaders said.
