District Collector Ch. Vijaya Mohan on Wednesday directed officials of the Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department to expedite work on the Sunkesula drinking water scheme to augment water supply to 28 villages.

The State government sanctioned Rs. 20.75 crore for the scheme, the Collector said while inspecting the sump and filter beds.

Although Rs. 10 crore was spent so far, the work was progressing at a snail’s pace, he said.

RWS Superintending Engineer Bhanu Vara Prasad told the District Collector that four more pump houses were to be built.

Mr. Vijaya Mohan directed Singan Project Limited Project Manager Vijayabhaskar to complete the works on a war-footing.

Rural Water Supply Executive Engineer Jayachandra Babu and other officials accompanied the Collector.
