NTR Bhavan, the district TDP office here, will soon be buzzing with activity as it has been designated as the official State party office till the new office is constructed at Mangalagiri.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would be visiting the office located at Arundelpet on April 29.
The office is being spruced up with a fresh coat of paint, and some minor internal structural adjustments are being made to accommodate the Chief Minister and other senior leaders during their visits. Security is also being beefed up in view of the Chief Minister’s visit.
Reminiscing his efforts to construct the party office, former ZP chairperson Paturi Nagabhushanam said the idea to construct the party office was floated in 1998 when former MP Yadlapati Venkat Rao was the district party leader. By then, foundation stones for the party office were laid thrice, but work could not begin.
“Soon after becoming the ZP chairperson in 1998, I began making efforts to find a suitable place when we zeroed in on a huge pit, which used to be a dump. We were able to secure the site from the GMC for a lease period of 33 years and complete the entire building by 1999. We could complete construction in 120 days with the support of the Chief Minister and Mr. Venkat Rao,” said Mr. Nagabhushanam.
Later, the building was inaugurated by Mr. Naidu in the year 2001.
