The new generation website being jointly developed by the TTD’s IT wing and the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) with its special and simplified applications for ‘e-darshan’, ‘e-hundi’ has tested far superior to the existing one. Efforts are also on to incorporate ‘e-accommodation’ feature in the site, said TTD Executive Officer D. Sambasiva Rao.

Talking to media on Friday, Mr. Rao said the pilgrims can make suggestions if any before the month-end and the same would be effected in the site based on their merit.

He said June was more rewarding for the management in more than one way. While 24.70 lakh pilgrims had darshan of the deity as against 23.89 lakh during the corresponding month last year, the sale of laddus shot up to 94.20 lakh (87.65 lakh).

Statistics also revealed that a record number of 11.93 lakh devotees got their heads tonsured at Kalyankatta as against 10.77 lakh during last June, while 22.88 lakh pilgrims were served free food as against 21.80 lakh. In addition to these, the occupancy rate of the cottages and guest houses also stood at 107 % during the month.

Rescheduling of operation dates

He said the developmental works at the TTD's prestigious Balaji Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled hospital would be completed by the month-end and sounded optimistic that the operation dates for the special children which had got extended till 2019 would be rescheduled. Efforts are on to ensure that the surgeries are completed in a span of one year.

Leopard menace

TTD Deputy Conservator of forests Sivaram Prasad who was also present at the meeting said that enough care had been taken to tackle the leopard menace.

In all three leopards, a mother and two cubs aged between 13-20 months, are believed to be on the prowl and appealed to the inhabitants of the Balaji Nagar to avoid dumping of food waste and domestication of dogs which he said were a favourite prey of the wild cats.

The management is also contemplating planting of over 5,000 saplings of Peepal ( Ficus Religiosa ) at prime places atop the town and along the footpath as it is considered the manifestation of Lord Maha Vishnu.
