One of the victims of slain gangster Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem told police that he met ruling party MLC Nethi Vidyasagar for help a few months ago following threat calls from Nayeem’s associates. This was mentioned in a First Information Report (FIR) issued by the Bhongir police three days ago, a copy of which is available with The Hindu .

The complainant, Ganpaa Nagendra, a leading businessman from Bhongir, stated that Nayeem’s associate, Pasham Srinivas rang him up and threatened that he has to meet ‘Bhai Sahab’ (Nayeem) failing which serious repercussions would follow. On the night of March 17, he claimed to have met the MLC and sought his help for safety from Nayeem’s gang but was told that Nayeem was a gangster and that he should meet and speak to him directly.
