Naidu owes an explanation to people, says Lok Satta

August 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 05:34 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Lok Satta Party has termed the Centre’s indirect refusal of special category status to Andhra Pradesh as nothing short of deception of its people.

Party national general secretary Hyma Pothineni in a statement here on Tuesday said people in Andhra Pradesh voted for TDP and BJP combine with the faith that they would bestow the special category status for its speedy development.

However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi without saying in so many words made it clear that AP would not get special category status, she said. On the meeting of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Modi, she said it was ridiculous for Mr. Naidu to explain the demands of AP to the Prime Minister 14 months after the State bifurcation. Mr. Modi’s assurance that a final decision on various demands of AP would be taken after the Niti Ayog gave the road map was a tactic to buy time again. State Lok Satta general secretary Bhisetty Babji said Mr. Naidu owed an explanation to the people for ignoring Lok Satta’s demand to press the Centre for industrial incentives.
