Abdul Waheed allegedly sold his three-month-old son Nagur Shariff to an elite family for Rs. 1.30 lakh in Nandyal town in Kurnool district, according to the police.
Police arrested Abdul Waheed on a complaint lodged by his wife Jahana Bi that he sold away their child. Waheed took the child out from the house on June 11 and returned home alone, she said in the complaint. Whenever she questioned him about the whereabouts of their son, he had been replying that he would come back soon, she added. Suspecting danger to her child, Jahana Bi took the help of her brothers and lodged a complaint in Nandyal III Town Police Station on Monday. Police registered a case and arrested Abdul Waheed on Tuesday.
