It’s official now. As announced by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao earlier that his son and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao would get the additional portfolio of Municipal Administration and Urban Development which was presently with the former, the State Government notified the same on Sunday.

Governor of Telangana has allocated Municipal Administration and Urban Development subject in addition to the portfolio already allocated to Mr. Rama Rao. In the orders issued on Sunday, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma stated that the allocation of additional business was done on the directions of the Governor.

In the GHMC election rally held here on January 30, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao announced that he would entrust Mr. Rama Rao with the additional portfolio as a complement for single-handedly and successfully shouldering the responsibility of the party’s campaign in GHMC elections. On being pointed out about the likelihood of reshuffle of portfolios after the coming budget session, sources in the ruling party said, even in such an eventuality Mr. Rama Rao would continue to hold the Panchayat Raj and Rural Water Supply portfolio as drinking water grid, Mission Bhageeratha, was one of prestigious schemes to the State Government after Mission Kakatiya and 2-BHK Housing schemes.
