Leaders of the Kapu Joint Action Committee (JAC) have welcomed actor and Jana Sena president Pavan Kalyan’s decision to organise a public meeting in Kakinada on Friday on the issue of according Special Category Status (SCS) to the State. They have also appealed to him to support their cause as well.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, JAC leader Akula Ramakrishna, while welcoming Mr. Pawan Kalyan’s struggle for SCS, sought his support to the Kapu reservation movement. He also asked TDP leaders to stop criticising Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.

Mr. Ramakrishna said that JAC members would meet at Barlapudi Ravindra Kumar Gardens on Sunday and chalk out the future course of action. It would be attended by representatives from all the 175 Assembly constituencies in the State. Mr. Ramakrishna also sought to know how many districts did the Justice Manjunatha Commission visit in the last nine months and whether the TDP remembered the promises it had made to Mr. Padmanabham during the deeksha of the Kapu leader.
