Srikakulam Collector P. Lakshmi Narasimham expressed concern over the little forest area in Srikakulam saying that the district had only 12 per cent forest coverage as against the recommended area of 33 per cent. He urged the people to give top priority to greenery in the district.
He participated in the State Bank of India’s Foundation Day celebrations and participated in plantation programme along with the bank officials including its Regional Manager Mary Sagaya.
He hailed plantation of 1,000 saplings on a single day in places like Government Degree College and other areas. Ms. Mary Sagaya said that the bank had provided tree guards also for their protection. Srikakualm District forest Officer K. Lohitasyudu, Degree College Principal M. Baburao participated in the plantation programme.
