‘Gamanam’ adjudged the best play in drama contest

‘Gamanam’, presented by the Gangotri Pedakakani troupe, has been adjudged the best play at the 15th Sahrudaya State-level drama competitions-2014 held here. Another play, ‘Dongalu’, by Chaitanya Kalabharathi of Karimnagar, was adjudicated the second best play, said N.V.N. Chary, the secretary of Sahrudaya Literary & Cultural Organisation.

Sahrudaya organised the competitions in association with the A.P. State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation and State Department of Culture at Public Gardens here. Artistes K.K.L. Swamy, J. Subramanya Satheesh, Kazipet Tirumalayya, Hasini M. Ramesh, Vaddadi Satyanarayna, Naidu Gopi were selected as best actors from each play.

The overall best actor prize was given to K. Vijaya Lakshmi, best child actor prize to Vinay, best writer to Sivaram, best director to Naidu Gopi, and best music director award to T. Sambasiva Rao.

The panel of judges included K. Mohan Rao, Chitta Shanker and Purushottham Rao. The Sahrudaya president and general secretary K.L.V. Prasad and G. Girjiamanohar Babu, NIT professor P. Nageshwara Rao, K.L.V. Prasad, Banda Kalidas, K. Krishna Prasad, M. Manohara Rao and Vanam Lakshmikantha Rao were present.
