Fervour marks Narasimha Jayanthi

Narasimha Jayanti was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm and religious fervour across Prakasam district on the 14th day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon), on Friday.

Devotees observed day-long fast and offered special prayers at dusk in, among other temples dedicated to the deity at Singarayakonda, and Narasimhakonda near Markapur in the district.

Thousands of devotees thronged the Sri Kapilagiri Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Narasimhakonda to witness the celestial wedding of Mahalakshmi with the lord.

The hill temple of Sri Lakshminarasimha temple at Singarakonda, near Addanki also witnessed a flurry of activity.

Decked up

Bhajans, kolatams were performed by devotees on the occasion. Dramas like Srikrishna Rayabaram and Chenchu Lakshmi were staged on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Malakonda, the abode of Sri Malyadri Lakshmi Narasimha swamy which is opened only on Saturdays as per tradition, has been decked up for the performance of marriages for over 100 couples tomorrow.
