Differences between TDP MP, MLA to the fore again

June 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 04:57 pm IST - ANANTAPUR:

Differences between Anantapur MLA Prabhakar Chowdhary and MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy, both belonging to the TDP, have cropped up again over re-construction of road dividers in the town.

Venting his anger at Mr. Prabhakar Chowdhary at not being informed of the plan to remove and re-construct the road dividers near the Saptagiri Circle in the name of beautification, a visibly irked Mr. Diwakar Reddy said he would stage a dharna along with his followers if the proposal was not withdrawn.

“What is the necessity of removing the existing road dividers citing beautification, especially when the existing ones are serving the purpose. It is an unnecessary exercise at a time when the municipality is facing fund shortage for many developmental works,” said Mr. Diwakar Reddy.

With this, the police stepped up security at the circle to meet any situation in case of an altercation between the supporters of Mr. Reddy and Mr. Chowdhary.

Assurance

However, IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and TDP district president and Penukonda MLA B.K. Parthasarathy swung into action to cool the tempers.

According to close aides of Mr. Diwakar Reddy, he was given an assurance on a positive outcome over the issue in the next couple of days and was requested not to go ahead with his dharna plan.
