Couple hacked to death

An old garments vendor, Ayyavaru Reddy alias Ayyavaraiah, 45, and his wife Nagulu, 35, were hacked to death while they were asleep on the terrace of their house in Sainathapuram in Mydukur town of Kadapa district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Ayyavaru Reddy and his wife were fatally attacked with an axe and knife by his paternal uncle Narasimhulu and his son Srinivasulu owing to disputes between their families, Mydukur DSP M. Ramakrishnaiah told the media after inspecting the bodies. Ayyavaru Reddy’s mother told the police that she noticed Narasimhulu and Srinivasulu fleeing after killing the couple, when she came out on hearing shrieks of her son, the DSP said. A knife left behind by the accused was recovered.

The bodies were shifted to the government hospital at Proddatur for post-mortem examination. The Mydukur police registered a case. Ayyavaru Reddy, who eked out a living by selling old garments, had constructed Sri Chowdeswari temple at Sainathapuram and resided in a house near it.

Meanwhile, overcoming the grief caused by the murder of his parents, their son Venkatesh, who is studying SSC, take the mathematics exam at the Mydukur Zilla Parishad High School centre on Tuesday. The boy wrote the examination on being persuaded by school correspondent T.V.S.M. Venkateswarlu and ZP high school exam centre in-charge Venkatalakshmamma.
