A 15-year-old girl from Bengaluru, who had reportedly eloped with a 23-year-old mason, was rescued by Childline India Foundation from V.V. Palem in Prakasam district on Tuesday.

The girl, studying in Standard IX at Kadugudi in Whitefield, had eloped with the man from Ponaluru in Prakasam district on August 2, Childline district coordinator M. Kishore Kumar said.

The mason had developed intimacy with the girl while he was working in a building opposite the apartment in which the girl was living, Mr. Kumar added. The girl was rescued from a house at Singarabotlapalem. “We are in touch with our Bengaluru counterparts to reunite the girl with her parents,” he said.
