Police officials and personnel should pay due attention to their health as well as their duties, Kadapa Armed Reserve DSP Muralidhar said on Friday.
He inaugurated an awareness camp on orthopaedic and diabetes conducted by Vidyasagar Orthopaedic, Joint Replacement and Diabetes Hospital at RSI Narasimhulu Memorial Mini Kalyana Mantapam at Kadapa. As many as 500 AR personnel took part in the camp.
Orthopaedician C. Vidyasagar Reddy said police personnel are prone to wearing out of knee joints while discharging their duties. He assured concessional treatment to police officials and personnel.
He explained about the bone and knee disorders with the help of working models.
Diabetician N. Srilakshmi said diabetes is caused by stress and release of hormones due to non-intake of food at the right intervals. Obesity is also a cause for diabetes, she said. India is second in terms of diabetes patients and could jump to the first position by 2030, she said.
Nearly 380 million persons are diabetics across the world.
Persons beyond 30 years of age are prone to diabetes and it can lead to brain stroke, loss of sight, and heart disorders, she said.
Dr. Vidyasagar Reddy gave tips on temporary relief measures for knee joint pains and bone ache. Dr. Srilakshmi performed tests for diabetes on the occasion.
Reserve Inspector Satyagopal, RSIs Anand, Sivasankar and Srisaila Reddy and AR personnel participated in the camp.
