‘Banks should check counterfeit currency’

September 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - MACHILIPATNAM:

Andhra Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redress Commission (CDRC) President Justice Naushad Ali on Saturday advised banks to adopt stringent measures and technology to check counterfeit currency notes. He also directed a member of the Krishna District Consumer Forum -1 to accept cases pertaining to counterfeit notes and their transaction through ATMs. “A lot of cases pertaining to food adulteration, health, agriculture and real estate are being reported in Krishna district. Consumers should avail the services offered by the forum,” Justice Ali said.

“Several people choose the legal route, challenging the quality of treatment offered by hospitals and doctors. It is a good sign of awareness on consumer rights,” he added.

On the rising number of cases relating to chemical treatment for ripening of fruits, he called on consumers to approach the forum for justice.
