Balijas fault timing of ‘deeksha’

June 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 12:57 pm IST - TIRUPATI:

The roundtable organised by the Balija JAC here on Sunday raised serious questions over the timing of the hunger strike by Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.

JAC president Neelam Balaji said that the ill-timed ‘deeksha’ would seriously hurt the interests of the Kapu-Balijas, as the government had already initiated the process of conducting a survey to include the community in the BCs.

While supporting Mr. Padmanabham for his “noble intentions,” the meeting, however, charged him with not presenting the case before the Manjunath Commission.

The protest, besides sending wrong signals to the community, rubbed the government up the wrong way.

Mr. Balaji faulted him for supporting arsonists who had torched the train.
