It was a sweet homecoming for Namratha, wife of ‘Prince’ Mahesh Babu and for Padmavathy, daughter of superstar Krishna, as they visited their native village of Burripalem village located near Tenali.
The village has been adopted by Mahesh Babu but what has made the occasion special is the visit of Namratha, who is rarely seen in public.
“The village has been adopted by Mahesh Babu after Jayadev Galla chose this village to be developed as a smart village under Sansad Gram Yojana launched by the Prime Minister. We have identified certain areas on which we will work on like, open defecation, access to clean water and improving facilities at the local ZP High School,’’ said Ms. Namratha.
Earlier, the duo drove down to the village from Guntur and was accorded a warm welcome by the villagers. They went to the ancestral house and garlanded the portraits of Krishna’s parents — Ghattamaneni Nagaratnamma and Veeraghavaiah Chowdary.
They offered prayers at the Sai Baba temple and later prayed at a church in SC colony. Both Ms. Namratha and Ms. Padmavathy were seen mingling with the public even as private body guards watched.
Ms. Namratha was the crowd favourite and she began her address in Telugu but later switched to English.
The crowd went into raptures as she concluded the speech by saying “Malli Vasta Maheshtho(Will come again with Mahesh).’’
